Chris Newsom moved to Branson Missouri after earning a degree in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University. Upon moving there, he was employed by Kirby VanBurch at Mortimer's Magic Box at the Silver Dollar City theme park. Kirby VanBurch, world famous magician, had been performing in Branson for 9 years after retiring from the Las Vegas scene.

Chris' talent for magic and business earned him the respect of the local magicians and was soon offered the Chris Rayman's Magic Shop which had been operating in the IMAX Entertainment Complex for one year. The shop was renamed to Dazzle Magic Shop.

After the lease expired with Kirby VanBurch at Mortimer's Magic Box and seeing his success with Dazzle Magic Shop, Silver Dollar City offered it to Chris Newsom. With in a matter of months of leasing Mortimer's Magic Box, he was offered another magic shop at a new theme park built by Silver Dollar City called Celebration City. The new magic shop was named Hocus Pocus and has been operating since 2004.

After touring for several years, in 2003 Chris Newsom was married to
C.J. Lovelace making her his permanent assistant. He has earned a Masters of Ministry in Pastoral Studies and has also become the pastor of Covenant Reformed Church in Branson Missouri.
